Creativity and Genre
When embarking upon a new endeavor in a field ripe with choices, creativity and a creative process is very important. Without creativity any project or assessment you do, it will be boring, hard to watch/read and not interesting. When you have a good creative process, it will help you stay organized and keep the viewer/ reader interested and invested. In the Ted Talk we watched last week the host talked about how everyone needs to know where they get their best ideas. This is because it is part of his creative process and he is suggesting that everyone do the same in theirs. He mentioned that some people might get their best ideas in the shower, talking a walk, in class, or even on the toilet. His suggestion was to bring a notebook or keep one next to you wherever you get your best ideas.
All of us also did a “New Introductions” activity. The activity I chose was the bucket list. I used my creative process in this activity my organizing my thoughts, setting goals on what I wanted to get done, and writing down my ideas as I got them. My creativity on what my goals were and what I want to do in life came into play with my creative process because I had to write along with my thoughts which created a process.
Lanie is working in my chosen genre. The genre is holiday/ cooking magazine cover. Me and Lanie are both very creative and this will shine in our project because we are very hardworking and believe in a creative process. Lanie is very organized in her blogs, notes and assignments. I like how she incorporates a creative process into everything she does and doesn’t even realize it sometimes. For example, when taking notes, she takes the notes we are assigned and when she gets an idea for a blog or future project she writes it down off to the side.
For our portfolio project me and Lanie want to do a holiday or cooking magazine cover. We initially wanted to do a holiday cover but that would be very controversial and stereo typical so we are now thinking of doing a cooking magazine cover. With not being able to fit everything we want for a holiday special on a magazine and the fact that it would be a special we decided to do a cooking magazine cover. We decided this because we could be more successful and impressive while being less stressed and being able to cover more without being controversial and possibly offensive to some cultures. We love how clean but also comforting food and holiday magazines look. Some staples of holiday magazines are usually the main foods and decorations used or ate during that time and a lot of color. Depending on the holiday and magazine, the lighting may differ but Lanie and I want to have a lighter, more clean looking cover. Also, we want to incorporate many article titles on the cover in accordance to many cultures, to not be offensive or discriminative. We are excited to show our story and creativity in our project and are ready to show our creative process and work together.
