To Team or Not to Team

             I have chosen to work with a group on my portfolio this year in Media Studies. I have chosen to work with one other person rather than a large group. I think it would be more fun to work with another person and I think our project would be better compared to doing it alone or with a big group. With big groups I think that there is always tension or disagreement at times and I think I would be more efficient and successful with one other partner. I think this because we can see how each other work together, get things done, and we could be more successful if we chose the right partner.  

For my portfolio I have chosen to work with Lanie Phillips. I've chose Lanie because she is very productive, hardworking, and positive. Lanie and I are also friends, so we have worked together in the past successfully. Some of Lanie’s strengths are staying focused and on track, having good and creative ideas, and cooperating with everyone easily. Some of my weaknesses are staying on one idea at a time and getting my thoughts together. I have good ideas but most times I don’t know how to organize them and incorporate them logically. Lanie’s strength of being organized and efficient and my strength of ideas and creativity will work well together to create a well thought out and good project. 

An activity that also helped my decision of choosing Lanie as my partner was the “Social Media Peer Account” activity. On Lanie’s social media she often posts pictures of her and her friends. In these pictures they are always smiling or laughing, and this made me want to work with Lanie because I think positivity and a good mindset is always important when working with a group or just in general. Lanie also posts about how she does cheer for the school and hangs out with her friends. This shows that with having a life outside of school and keeping up with schoolwork, especially as an athlete is very impressive. Lanie has good work ethic and is a good person to work with for our portfolio project.  

We also did an activity called “Lost at Sea”. In this activity we had to work with groups and do activities involving math, logical thinking, and analyzing. With these activities it was harder to work with a bigger group because we all had to cooperate and choose certain items to number in a list for an activity but with the right group, it was very easy. This is because everyone could cooperate and get things done because of their hardworking mindsets and efficiency. Lanie and I worked really well in this activity and both have good cooperation so I think Lanie and I will be very successful in our project together.

           My initial impressions of the impact of the opening sequences of films on how they develop the interest of the audience was I had mixed feelings. Some of the opening scenes music and lettering did not match the theme or plot of the movie. For example, in Dazed and Confused there was softer introduction music and letters for a movie about drugs. I would have thought the music would have been more intense. However, this could be foreshadowing in the sense that it could be a less action packed movie. But some of the opening clips such as the one from Rise of War Dogs had more upbeat, hype and intense music and the viewers could foreshadow this is going to be an action packed, interesting and eventful movie. Storyboarding

       Creating my storyboard was an interesting experience. There were ups and downs  and  many emotions  during this process of storyboarding. Something that was challenging was trying to think about how we  must  take t he pictures of the athlete's and changing our outline because the idea we had befor e  would not work with  Lanie and I’s  lives and schedule's because we would have to travel and we wanted to make something good that wouldn’t cause us an insane amount if stress.  We were going to do women ’ s  major league sports but once we found out we had to take the pictures and interview the women ourselves we realized th a t was not an optio n  in our position. T h is is because Lanie and I are  both student athletes ourselves, so we are very busy. Post Production 1- Editing

      T he next step in the production process is editing my InDesign project. There  were  a  few things  I needed to fix , especially with my text  and some other areas that needed to be adjusted  to fit my peers and my feedback . To start, I changed my text to  the  Impact  font  to make it look  sportier  and give the readers that sort of feel as they see my pr oject. Another thing I changed was outlining all my text titles on  all  the pages and the Title page  in black  especially because in my peer review, they said  it was a little hard to see because the text was  white,  and the cover picture was a little bright.  So now the titles are still white but outlined in black.  Going along with the text, I made it  bigger because there was empty space that needed a little more filling.  I kept the red lettering for the subtitles and the title for the ...
